miniatures-closeGaming’s newest online community. The War Event opens a new door for the gaming community as a whole. If you like gaming or military history, The War Event is the place for you to share your thoughts and experiences with others.

The War Event offers users three levels of participation. Registered Users have access to many of the forums where you can share your ideas and converse with others, and it won’t cost you a dime. Supporting and Premier Members to The War Event gain additional privileges, including uploading and sharing your images, as well as on-line access to Casus Belli, an extensive rule set covering warfare in antiquity and the medieval age, along with the forums designed for supporting the game.

Casus Belli uses the common base mounting seen in many common miniatures rules in the market place. If you already have a miniatures army, the Player’s Handbook shows you how to convert your favorite army over for play in Casus Belli. The first handbook covers fifty popular armies and subsequent handbooks will cover many more.

“Enthusiasts will find that with Casus Belli, all sorts of scenarios are possible, from historical match-ups to tournament-style gaming complete with a comprehensive point-buying system.  The end result is that Casus Belli works just as well as a historical battle game as it does as a tournament-based competition and done in a way whereby the rules make sense while at the same time are enjoyable to play.”

Come and share your gaming experiences here with others of similar interests, be they historical or in the realm fantasy gaming. Indulge yourself in discussing history with other people that share your interests, or perhaps engaging in friendly debate with those that don’t agree with your point of view. Post your group’s events and let others know what is coming up in your area.

Fast Fact
According to Donald Morris in “The Washing of the Spears”, the redesigned short stabbing spear implemented by the Zulus under Shaka, was not called an assegai as many people commonly think.
“He (Shaka) regarded the light throwing assegai as a ridiculous toy, and fretted its flimsiness. He soon designed a new assegai, with a heavy broad blade and a stout shortened haft. He hefted it underhand, making it a thrusting weapon similar to the short sword of the Romans, and the haft served to balance the point. It was called iKlwa, an onomatopoeic term imitating the sucking sound it made as it was withdrawn”.
