Yesterday we played a game LOOSELY based on Crecy 1346 A.D. No pot-holes for the English as we used stakes instead. The field of battle generally resembled the actual battle (except no windmill models) and the French had a 30% point advantage, which in retrospect may have been a bit too much.
The English position was strong, but I am not sure it made up for the deficiency in points. The French had 4 MU's vs. three for the English with Kevin Pajak, Gary Hoover, Andy Lebrecht, and Ken Nickel as French. Across the table sat Brian Ahrens, David Haynes, and Karl Pajak as the English. The battle in the center as vicious with wave after wave of French knights impaling themselves on the stake rows and then being met with a hail of arrows from the longbowmen. The English held again and again but their lines were gradually becoming thinned. Finally on the right, Karl's MU failed its MU morale check resulting in units breaking and fleeing while others went disordered with French dismounted knights before them! In the blink of an eye, the battle was won & lost.

Personally I think Kevin was just dumbfounded that it wasn't his Generalship that won the day...it was my lack of Morale that killed us.
